Abstract

All manuscript must have an abstract. The abstract should introduce the study, explain the methodology adopted, mention key findings and recommendations, and explain the significance of the study. All abstracts must have, atleast, five keywords and must not be longer than 250 words.

Introduction

The introduction section should explain the study and the variables. Further, explain why the study is important, and the objective(s) of the study.

Theoretical Framework (Optional)

Theories are important in explaining the problems of the study or potential results of study. Authors are encouraged to include theoretical analysis in their studies. Theories should be adopted and applied based on relevance to the concepts and problems the study seeks to address.

Methodology

The methodology section should explain the methods the study adopted. Empirical studies should describe the area where the study was conducted, the population and sample for the study, data collection instrument and methods, validation and reliability, method of data analysis, and interpretation.

Review (and other non-empirical) manuscripts must also contain the methodology section. Authors are to explain how literature was sourced, reviewed, analyzed, and where applicable, how secondary data was collected, analyzed and interpreted.

Experimental studies must explain in details the experimental approach adopted. Authors must explain every step adopted to generate the data presented in the study, and other important information, such as the control of extraneous variables and ethical statement/approval in the case of studies involving humans and animals.

Where AI was used to generate any part of the manuscript, it should be explicitly indicated in the methodology.

The methodology should be detailed enough to allow replication of the study.

Findings (Optional for reviews)

The findings section presents the results of the study. Data can be presented as texts, tables, charts, images or a combination of all. Results should be presented according to research objective, specific purpose or hypothesis presented in the introduction. Only data collected and analyzed for the study should be presented in intelligible form.

Discussion

The discussion sector must focus on only the data presented as results under findings. It is important for the author(s) to explain how the findings of the study addressed the research objective(s). The author(s) can also link the theory described in the theoretical framework of the study. It is recommended to present the similarities or differences between the findings of the study and the findings of other similar and existing studies. Comparison of results on similar topic with studies in other countries, regions and continents is highly recommended.

Conclusion and Recommendation

In the conclusion, author(s) are to explain the relevance of the findings and value of the study to the body of knowledge. Conclusions should not be treated as summary of the study. Rather author(s) should explain how the results contributed to understanding and solving the problem related to the broader scope of the research problem in focus.

Recommendations should be based on the findings of the study, and should be pragmatic enough. Relevant stakeholders needed to actualize any recommendation suggested should be mentioned and their responsibility properly spelt out.

Acknowledgement (Optional)

Individuals or organizations who contributed their time, skills, expertise, funds and other forms of support but cannot be listed as authors of the manuscript should be mentioned in the acknowledgement. If necessary, their actual contribution towards the success of the manuscript should be mentioned.

Example:
“The authors thank S.O. Olaitan (Emeritus Professor of Agricultural Education) for his intellectual contributions during literature review of this study”.

“This study was funded by TETFund through the Institution Based Research funding initiative with reference number TETFUND/DR&D/CE/UNI/NSUKKA/RP/VOL.I”.

Citation and References
